Coming Soon: Virtual Balloon Class!

You asked, I listened

There will be a virtual foil balloon drawing class! I’m so glad that so many of you were interested in taking this workshop and I’m happy to bring the in person experience to Zoom!

We’ll be drawing together live on Friday, June 3rd from 5-7pm PST. Can’t make it then? No worries! The workshop recording will be emailed to everyone who purchases a ticket. Tickets will be sold through These Hands Maker’s Collective, click the link below to sign up!.

Want to join us? Sounds great! I want to make sure you’ve got everything you need so here are all the materials I’ll be using for this specific class.

MATERIALS LIST:

  1. A pencil - I like a 2H like this one here

  2. A good eraser - The ones built into pencils often just don’t cut it!
Option 1. I like this rubber eraser a lot if you prefer a classic eraser or
Option 2. This kneaded eraser gets used on almost every single drawing of mine!

  3. A good pencil sharpener - Again, many sharpeners are pretty dull and can damage nice pencils! I love a good heavy metal one like this. (Note: some states have banned brass metal sharpeners, California is one of them!)

  4. Drawing paper - I love this mixed media paper from Strathmore but feel free to use whatever you like! You want something smooth-ish that isn’t too thin/flimsy. We’ll be making our drawings roughly 5x7” size so no need to get a large pad of paper if you don’t have one. Do bring a few extra sheets for warm up though!

  5. and of course, Colored Pencils - I will be using Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils in at least the following colors:

  • Black

  • White

  • 20% Cool Gray

  • 50% Cool Gray

  • 70% Cool Gray

In my original drawing, I also used these (totally optional!) colors:

  • Dark Brown

  • Pink

  • Seashell Pink

  • Blue Slate

  • Lavender

(Please note: Not all colored pencils are the same! Feel free to use whatever brand you like and use colors similar to those above, just know that they may work a little differently than mine.)

Hope to see you soon!

If you have any questions about the workshop, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment down below and I’ll do my best to answer them. These classes have been such a fun way to reconnect with and learn from other artists and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
